Post 3: Franz Ferdinand

An important day in my life was when I went to Franz Ferdinand’s first concert in Movistar Arena. They are a Scottish band and it was in 2010 and was scheduled for March 13. It was my first year of university and my first year in Santiago too (I’m from La Serena). I was very excited and because my academic year started in March 8, I arrived at Santiago a week before, in February 26. Everything was going very well, but in February 27 an earthquake occurred. I was brushing my teeth and suddenly everything started to move. I’m not afraid of earthquake, so I don’t really care about but I was living with my grandmother and she was terrified in her bedroom and my brother was worried because he couldn’t see because the lights went off. Everything was fine, but the light didn’t come back in four days. I thought I couldn’t go to the concert, but they did it and donate some money for affected people. I sing along, jumped, shout and dance a lot. It was something amazing after a tragedy.

Post 2: antropo-no-logic

I got into bachillerato in 2010 and I wanted to study medicine. In there, I realized that mathematics and biology wasn’t for me, they were too difficult and I enjoyed better sociology and psychology. Because of that, I decided to study something related with social sciences or arts. In December of that year, I had to decide which career I would like to study and I didn’t know if I wanted anthropology or art theory. Nevertheless, my first option was psychology and the secretary asked me ‘are you sure?’ and I said ‘no, I’m not sure’. I changed my options and I put anthropology first.

I didn’t know a lot about it, but I like the idea that people take some decisions and sometimes they seem irrational or illogical, but they are not! Some decisions are cultural and culture doesn’t have anything to do with rationality o logic. Also, there is knowledge that is not scientific and it’s valid too, for example, the traditional knowledge. I decided Universidad de Chile only because my parents and brother studied here and they thought it was the best option for me.

Post 1: the girl, the tower and the structure

I would like to visit France. I don't know very much about it, but I would like to learn its language. Maybe it's a cliché, because everybody seems to think that french is a "beautiful language", but I don't think so. In fact, I want to learn french because some of the most important anthropologist are french and I would like to read them in their original language.

But also (yes, it is a cliché) I have been always amazed by monumental structures and I would like to know the Eiffel tower. I actually don’t know the reason why it was built, but I think it has something special and that’s why everyone is enchanted by it.

Beside the tower, I would like to visit the Louvre’s museum and contemplate La Gioconda, even if it’s not the original one. This is the most famous picture of Leonardo da Vinci and it’s said that the original is locked in a vault under the museum.
